Opportunities

Gamma Zeta Omega Chapter awards thousands of dollars in scholarships annually to deserving high school students in Miami-Dade County. The awards are given to students who have demonstrated high scholastic achievement, leadership, and have actively participated in community service projects.

 

Since 1942, Gamma Zeta Omega has proudly awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships and book awards to assist students in their academic pursuits as well as encouraged and prepared our next generation of game-changer leaders.

The following scholarships are available to interested and eligible students:

  • Jeanetta A. Gill Scholarship – Named for the third President of Gamma Zeta Omega who was a local community educator and advocate. The current scholarship amount is $15,000.00 paid over four years in increments of three thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars per year. An eligible applicant for this four-year scholarship shall be: (1) a female student, (2) Miami-Dade County public high school senior; (3) attending an Historically Black College/University (HBCU) is required. This recurring scholarship requires the recipient to maintain a B or better G.P.A. annually.

  • Ivy Rosettes Scholarship – Scholarships are awarded to active participants in their senior year based upon merit and other categories.

  • W.I.S.H. Foundation, Inc. Scholarship – T.B.A.

  • Other Scholarships – T.B.A.

In keeping with Alpha Kappa Alpha’s mission to maintain a progressive interest in college life, the Gamma Zeta Omega chapter annually awards a four-year scholarship to deserving students in Miami-Dade County. Named posthumously in honor of Gamma Zeta Omega Chapter’s third president, the Jeanetta A. Gill Scholarship seeks to recognize outstanding high-school seniors with plans of furthering their education at Historically Black Colleges/Universities (HBCUs). The award is given to young ladies that show good character while being committed to academic achievement as well as community service. The scholarship provides a yearly stipend of $3,750 for a maximum of four years.
